Here at Christian Focus Publications, we read a lot of books (as you might expect!). We thought our blog readers would enjoy hearing about the books our staff are reading from time to time, so we decided to add a regular blog feature called “What We’re Reading.”
The first contribution to the “What We’re Reading” series is from Production Manager, Jonathan Dunbar. He shares about his love for biographies as well as his recent encounter with John Stott: The Humber Leader from our Trailblazers series.
First a confession. I enjoy reading biography, but sometimes like a fast read that just gives me an easy introduction to the person. Our trailblazer series are written for 9-14 year olds, but despite being long past my school days I really enjoy them. John Stott was a name I knew well, but yet I knew little about him. Julia Cameron provides an excellent introduction to his life. Born in 1927 his life spanned a period of fascinating social history, which is illustrated with many facts in the book, yet they don’t detract from the focus of the story. A man known to many as uncle John, who chose to follow and trust God. So I encourage you to buy this for a 9-14 year old, but maybe just read it before giving it to them.
